Steerage Sprat

A small silver sprat that gathers around the cold outlines of drowned lower-deck corridors. Its flanks carry brown bars like old bunk planks, and a few brass-bright spots glint like buttons from uniforms nobody came back for. Common, edible, and faintly melancholy, it is the kind of catch cooks pretend not to name before the pan gets hot.
